今格空间荣幸地宣布，王强在今格空间的首次个展「形制与类别」将于2024年11月6日开幕，本次展览将呈现艺术家近年创作的12件作品，展览持续至2025年1月20日。
形制，是物体的形状和样式，也是王强用以概括和表达存在的方式。他于纷繁的形制中提取有限的类别，并以中性且冷静的客观呈现，让形状具备某种超真实的质感，进而拥有多重的语意和解读空间。此次展览中，作品形状被归纳为建筑和齿轮，艺术家抽取两者共有的序列性和秩序感，回应着当今杂乱无序的现实。建筑作为艺术家延续多年的创作主题，是凝聚的时代意识的演绎。在他所提取的典型建筑样式中，形制成为无差别的分子，种类被归结为一。这种类别的简化像极了齿轮，其精确有序的咬合运转同样意味着合理性的秩序与服从，而被卷入其中的个体则成为集体（无）意识链条中的局部，履行着预先设定的运行模式。不可逆转的重复与秩序，也让人想到平克·弗洛伊德所唱的：“你只是墙上的另一块砖”。（文字、海报设计：梁庆）

Ginkgo Space is honored to announce the opening of Wang Qiang's first solo exhibition at Ginkgo Space, Shape and Category, on November 6, 2024. The exhibition will feature 12 works created by the artist in recent years and will run until January 20, 2025.
Shape refers to the shape and style of an object, and it is also the way Wang Qiang summarizes and expresses existence. He extracts limited categories from a multitude of forms and presents them in a neutral, calm and objective manner, endowing these shapes with a hyper-real texture that in turn creates multiple layers of meaning and interpretive space. In this exhibition, the shapes of the works are categorized into architecture and gears. The artist distills the shared sense of sequence and order inherent in both, as a response to the chaotic and disorderly reality of today.
Architecture, a recurring theme in the artist’s practice for many years, is an interpretation of condensed collective consciousness of the times. In the typical architectural forms he extracts, form becomes an undifferentiated element, and categories are reduced to unity. This simplification of categories is analogous to gears: their precise, interlocking operation signifies rational order and compliance, while the individuals caught in this system become mere parts of a chain of collective (un)consciousness, functioning according to pre-determined modes of operation. This irreversible repetition and order also evokes the lyrics of Pink Floyd: "You are just another brick in the wall".
